Meet Yale playwright Bob Barnett (YSD '89) and the cast of his double
bill SYMPHONY PASTORALE/FUGUE SERIES at a post-show gathering
co-sponsored by Yale GALA, following its FringeNYC performance Monday,
August 18th, 2008.

Join Bob and the cast from 9pm-11pm for drinks and conversation at Turks
and Frogs Bar.

The Los Angeles Times called SYMPHONY PASTORALE "a delicious and
sophisticated piece of theater" while the Chicago Tribune dubbed the
double bill "a winning pair of one-act plays...novel and entrancing."

A New York premiere, SYMPHONY PASTORALE is the story of a man's life
dramatized in four movements, each one orchestrated with its own
rhythmic structure, creating spoken music that moves effortlessly from
the outlandishly comic with John as a fetus refusing to be born - to the
startlingly poignant as his children grow up before our very eyes as the
family revisits a amusement park...and all performed under the direction
of a conductor's baton. FUGUE SERIES, which opens the show, is a silent
movie come to life set to an original score by Brian Wilbur Grundstrom.
The ensemble of five actors creates a quick-change comic soufflé of 35
people and personalities whose interweaving storylines become a visual
fugue as they visit a museum gallery to view a series of three paintings
over the course of a day.
