Graduating doesn't
conclude your
relationship with Yale.
In some ways, it's only the beginning ...
Yale GALA is an educational
and cultural organization. Our objectives include:
- Promote the
well being and
betterment of the Yale University LGBTQ community, including alumni,
faculty, students and the public at large
- Provide
educational opportunities for Yale University
students--including scholarships, awards and prizes--as well as
mentoring and support
- Organize
educational activites and events to inform gay and
lesbian alumni, students and the general public of current activites
and historical significance of LGBTQ people at Yale and on collegiate
campuses around the country and world
- Foster positive
relations between Yale University and its
LGBTQ alumni and students
- Assist and aid
members and
the community with shared interests and problems
- Participate with other
organizations in activities pertaining to the LGBT community and its
interests
Every year Yale GALA:
- Hosts a student-alumni dinner (offered to
students below
cost) and provides other programming to the University Community and
mentoring to students
- Awards a cash prize of $250
for the best senior essay related to gay and lesbian studies
- Hosts a yearly reception for
graduating students (undergrads & graduates)
- Hosts numerous events in New
York, San Francisco, and elsewhere, bringing alumni together to network
and socialize
- Participates in LGBT Pride
events and other community events
- Publishes paper and e-mail
newsletters for its membership and supports our members' initiatives
