Join Yale GALA, Inc., Dr. Diana Silverman (Princeton '88, Columbia Ph.D. Italian) and EMERGENCY-USA for a fun, multi-media beginners' Italian Lesson (3-4:30 PM), followed by a Happy Hour Gathering for Italian Speakers (4-30-6 PM) - monthly on Sundays: first is Sunday, September 17, 2017.

The afternoon of Italian culture benefits EMERGENCY's life-saving medical work to save millions of survivors of war and poverty around the globe.  EMERGENCY-USA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

First, Dr. Silverman will lead us on an exciting culture-based Italian language lesson, with architecture, photography, music, and paintings as the basis of our exercises.   No Italian experience is necessary, and, by incorporating the arts, Dr. Silverman designs the lessons to be engaging and enriching to students at diverse levels of Italian study.  Every lesson is self-contained and requires no prior Italian study.

Following the Italian lesson, there will be an Italian Speakers’ Happy Hour for more fluent speakers.

The book for the lesson is Stellare: Learning Italian with Cultural Stars (by Diana Silverman).  The book is sold online (including Amazon) and will be available on Sunday for $14; all profits from the book are assigned to EMERGENCY USA to fund medical care for refugees in Sicily.

Dr. Silverman’s Italian lessons will take place every month in the Fall at the offices of EMERGENCY USA (dates TBA)

These events are organized by Emergency USA and proudly announced by Yale GALA, Inc. and FFR/Princeton BTGALA.  The lessons themselves are mixed gay and straight events.
