NYC: Yale Club hosts Recapturing Gay History through Ephemera with Chris Hammer

A few slots remain: email mickey@yalegala.org if you are interested in attending

Wednesday, June 11 at 6:30pm
Yale Club of NYC
50 Vanderbilt Avenue
New York, NY

Join Club Member Chris Hammer UVA Law '08 for an evening examining the cultural significance of "ONE: The Homosexual Magazine," published in the 1950s and '60s by one of the U.S.'s first gay rights groups. The magazine ran pioneering articles on increasing gay visibility and acceptance during the Lavender Scare and the postal service's obscenity crackdowns. ONE's advertisements for books and other "homophile" organizations around the world, and its letters to the editor, are equally illuminating.

Doors to the Library open at 6:30 pm for a light reception. The conversation follows at 7:00 pm.
