Winner of Special Jury Mention for New Documentary Director at the 2025 Tribeca Festival - Rowan Haber

Thirty years after Saturday Night Live turned the androgynous character Pat into pop-culture punchline, director Rowan Haber explores the complicated legacy of the controversial character. Rather than simply dismissing or celebrating the original sketches, WE ARE PAT brings together a cohort of trans and nonbinary comedians alongside Pat creator Julia Sweeney to unpack 1990s media representation and 2020s trans reclamation. Who, as the comedians ask one another, gets to define the joke?

The screening will be followed by a conversation with the director Rowan Haber.
