Enjoy a lively and engaging discussion with old and new friends, about our August book: The Talented Mr, Ripley (1955), by Patricia Highsmith.

The Talented Mr. Ripley is a suspense novel about an irresistible sociopath.

There are also three film versions of the novel we’re reading:
1. director René Clément’s Purple Noon (Plein soleil, 1960, starring Alain Delon),
2. director Anthony Minghella’s The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999, starring Matt Damon), and
3. an Indian Tamil-language adaptation, Naan (2012, from director Jeeva Shankar).

5. About the Author:

In Europe, Highsmith is considered one of the great American authors; you can also enjoy her as compulsive beach reading. Several films have been based on her work, including Alfred Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train, her landmark 1952 lesbian novel The Price of Salt was recently filmed under its alternate title, Carol.
